Well as the title says, I'm planning to buy a laptop. I'm going to be buying it sometime before grade 12 so I have something to have fun with on the road or wherever else it's boring.

My 2 Main Laptops I want to get are:

An HP Laptop from Costco that has around 3 gigs ram, 250 gigs hard drive (tbh the hard drive doesn't matter due to the fact that I'll be using an external with 500 gigs) and the Graphics card is around 256 mb. It's using a 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo Processor as well

The other one is a Dell XPS which I'll have to order. It's around the same specs but it's built for media/gaming. Here's a link:

I'm also thinking of buying an Asus Laptop from a Slacko store but I'm not sure as of yet, what I'd want from Asus.

I'm willing to save up about a thousand dollars just for this laptop cus I don't want a crappy one :P

Opinions on what laptop I should buy?

Well, I've heard some crap about Dell using inferior quality parts but I don't know how reliable that is. Seems like it's probably just BS. No personal experience with them.

All of our computers have been HP, and I'd say they've been good. Never had any real problems. I have no idea how their laptops are though.

I've never even heard of Asus so...

Right now I'll have to go with HP.

Though I'm obviously not the best person to be answering this, as I'm generally pretty biased towards Macs and don't know all that much about PCs.

Thanks for the input.
I agree that HP computers handle quite well but I also don't know how great their laptops are.

Asus is apparently quite new in the computer industry but what I've heard is they're better than dell when it comes to service and such.

I'm also considering a macbook due to it being more media-friendly but that's just a maybe.

Yeah if you're looking at a Macbook it's something you want to be sure about. They're generally quite a bit more expensive than other laptops.

Plus if you want to do any gaming or something you'll probably need to buy and install Windows via Bootcamp, which adds another couple hundred dollars to the already high price.

It really comes down to whether or not the Mac OS is worth the extra money to you. For me it was anyway.

Vote still goes to HP. Although with laptops having good service can be really important, they're obviously a bit more fragile than the average computer.

So Asus could be good.

Reasons I can't get a Laptop: A lot

Input: I'd say go for the HP. As some may know(?) I recently returned from a trip to SoCal (as my Dad calls it... ugh), and my uncle owns a computer hardware manufacturing company, and we got to talking about Laptops. He said that HP was the way to go, because of the reliable parts and customization. Asus is something I've actually heard plenty of good things about.

However, my vote still goes to HP.

HPs suck
Actually they all suck!

Being the best one, I guess HP will wins by default

Would go with a Toshiba or Acer... but idk if Acer makes laptops, do they?
I mite be Asus... idk... though

But laptops have bad, bad side effects.
Take it from me and Scizzoman, I think all are life we had a crapper laptop ever year.
LOL!
Finally I got admin and mine and Scizzoman just said "Fuck it!" and got a Mac of his very own
Macs are the best but the space on it is kind of bad.
