The basic idea was to take the disc out of the drive, then insert the nozzle on the can of compressed air as far as yoiu can get it without forcing it. Then just spray some compressed air into it. Alternately you could probably try a cleaning disc, like one of those CDs with the cleaning brushes on them that people use for CD/DVD players.

Give it a shot. It's not like you can mess it up any more, and if it works then you've got a Wii again. If not, you can still send it in. From what I hear they fix it pretty fast, maybe a week at the most.
