Capcom is still run by the same head honchos, and even if the teams don't work on the same game, everything goes by them first.

Nexon is different. It's a smaller company so they can't afford multiple teams of programmers and designers.

RPG, technically speaking, is a game in which the participants assume the roles of fictional characters and determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization. Meaning that, as long as your playing as AND customizing your character(s), it's considered to have role-playing elements, and can therefore be considered an RPG.

An MMORPG is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, meaning that as long as your doing the above (with the customization and such) in an online universe which is usually persistent (but not always), the game is considered an MMORPG.

It's very broad, but that's the reality of it.

I know what an MMORPG, RPG and MMO are.

Just that maplestory is really bad, so I don't consider it to be a MMO, it's just an RPGO meaning "Roll Playing Game Online."
It does not deserve the MMO title!

Combat arms doesn't need the MMO title either... not a bad game if your bored, like I said.

You can't really say something's not an MMO just because you don't think it's good enough.

MMO isn't a title. It's just a genre of games.

Combat Arms I don't think would be an MMO, since it's an FPS. I'm assuming it has some sort of lobby system with seperate game modes and such (you know, like every other online FPS ever created). And that is like, not much of an MMO. I think.

Listen to Death Seraph. He speaks the truth. When he actually posts anything that is.

MMO is any really big online game Scizzoman.

CSS would be an MMO because over 100,000 thousand people pay it.
in other words it is a title.
But... sadly I was just pointing out that Maplestory is really gay, not to mention the name of it as well.
It is an MMO because quite a bit of people play the gay ass game.

Idk how many people it is considered to earn the title MMO.
(Scizzoman it is a title, a title before the genre of the game.)
If not that many people its just "online."
Like RE Outbreak.

I did research on it

Wikipidea

"MMO is a video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet, and feature at least one persistent world."

"Types:
MMO Role-playing game,
MMO First-person shooter,
MMO Real-time strategy,
MMO Rhythm game,
MMO Manager game,
MMO Racing,
MMO Tycoon game,
MMO Social game and
MMO Virtual sex game"
Yes VSG... idk why that's an MMO.

MMO-whatever isn't a title. It is indeed a genre. FPS isn't a title, it's a genre. RTS isn't a title, it's a genre. MMORPG isn't a title, it's a genre. Catch my drift? I'd like to quote something you quoted: "and feature at least one persistent world."

What this means is as follows (also quoted from wikipedia):

"A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits the world and that user-made changes to its state are, to some extent, permanent. The term is frequently used in the definition of the massively multiplayer online video games and can be considered synonymous with that class of games."

In lay-man's terms, this means that a persistent world is a created and contantly managed world that changes as you change it. A game with a lobby does not feature PWs, because all games are relayed to separate maps, where when you leave the game and come back, it'll be the same.

If a game has no PW, it is not an MMO, a subgenre of whatever you attach to the end of it.

I've seen the light and the truth... I guess I needed the Lens of Truth...
Damn I lost it!

Just goes to show... the Lens of Truth is always in a dark well filled with undead... things, in a chest locked way somewhere in the well... Huh!
